Recognizing the importance of research in reinforcing important concepts in Computer Science (CS) and professional development of students, our Department provides various opportunities for students to conduct scholarly investigations both on- and off-campus. On-campus research opportunities include a capstone course and Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) supported by the Science and Technology Academicians on the Road to Success (STARS) Office and faculty researchers. These experiences enable one-on-one interaction with CS faculty members in areas like information assurance, robotics, and software engineering. Off-campus opportunities include REUs at other universities and national laboratories; students who participate in off-campus activities establish relationships that lead to graduate school and employment opportunities. In total, our Department strongly encourages student research and supports students on- and off-campus in their research pursuits.
